HOME PURPOSE WAYS TO HELP COMMUNITY PARTNERS SIGN IN

A remarkable new generation of students is entering Sarasota County Schools today. It is a generation raised in the age of computers and information technology, and it consists of students who are both technically sophisticated and ambitious for success. These students seek learning that combines the theories of the classroom with real world experiences that can only be gained from the workplace. That’s exactly what they receive as part of the school district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

By sharing your knowledge with these students and by offering job shadowing opportunities and internships at your workplace, you help students connect their educations with their employment goals. You also help them develop the knowledge, tools and communications skills they need to advance, both academically and in their chosen careers.

WAYS TO HELP

INTERNSHIPS AND JOB SHADOWING: Help students gain real-world experience by offering internships and job shadowing programs at your workplace.

BECOME A MENTOR:  : Meet one-on-one with individual or small groups of students to talk with them about their career goals and help them create a pathway to success.

GIVE A GUEST LECTURE:  Share your special knowledge, insights and experiences to expand students’ horizons and help them learn from your successes…and even your failures.

BE CREATIVE:   Have other ideas for ways to help students develop their career goals and skills? Let us know. We are always seeking new ideas to help students succeed.
